Thanks to Valentine’s Day, February has come to be known as a month of romance. In keeping with that theme, here are some fun date night ideas for you and your sweetheart.
Thrift Store Outfit Date Night
You may have seen this idea on some of the YouTube videos that popularized the trend. Here’s how it works. You and your significant other set a budget and take a trip to the thrift store to buy each other an outfit. Try to keep the outfit choices a secret. Then, for date night that evening, you each have to wear the outfit the other person picked out. You could each try to find something that will look great and trendy or you could end up wearing a wedding dress or an ugly Christmas sweater for your date. Just make sure that if you go the funny route that your partner has a good sense of humor. Make sure to take lots of pictures to remember this fun adventure.
Museum Date
If you want to have a date where you learn something or experience culture, consider going to a museum. This is a great low-pressure date option because you have built-in talking points. If you can’t think of anything to talk about you will be surrounded by conversation starters. If you love science, take your date to the US Space and Rocket Center. Experience history at the US Veterans Memorial Museum. Have a classy evening at the Huntsville Museum of Art. You could even spend a day museum hopping. You’ll have a great time and you just might learn something.
Safari Park
Go on a safari in your own city. Harmony Park Safari lets you drive through and see the animals up close. If you’ve watched too many viral videos and are worried about your car getting messed up by the animals, you can actually rent an SUV there for only $15. This is a unique date idea that is sure to be memorable. If your date loves animals and the great outdoors, try this idea out.
Crafty Date Night
If you are a creative type and love to make things with your hands, a date at Hammer & Stain might be a perfect fit. If you are a married couple, you get the added bonus of having a date night and creating a custom piece of artwork for your home. (2 custom pieces actually, since you’ll each create one.) You are free to bring your own snacks, wine, and/or beer. Just be sure to drink responsibly and have a designated driver or Uber ready to go. For this date night, you will need reservations in advance so be sure to plan ahead.
Live Dangerously
This one sounds dangerous but it’s actually very safe. Civil Axe Throwing invites you to channel your inner lumberjack with their slogan “Throw an axe. Be awesome. Repeat.” If you have never thrown an axe before that is perfectly ok (and normal). They have professionals on hand to teach you everything you need to know to have an entertaining evening. This can be great for competitive couples and those who want to do something with a bit more thrill than your average dinner date.
Cheer on the Home Team
For sports fans, you can spend an evening cheering on the home team at a Huntsville Havoc hockey game. You don’t have to love hockey to have a great time at a Havoc game. The atmosphere, the music, and the delicious gameday food make for an awesome experience whether you are a diehard fan or have never been to a game in your life.
Performing Arts
If you want to catch a theatrical production, concert, or touring company of your favorite show then plan a date night at the Von Braun Center. The VBC offers such a variety of entertainment options that you will be sure to find something that both you and your sweetheart will enjoy. Stage plays, every genre of musical artists, and touring shows such as Dancing with the Stars make every week an event in Huntsville.
Plan Your Date
Now that you have some fresh ideas, it’s time to start planning. Ask your partner where they would like to go or what kind of activities they would enjoy and plan out the perfect date night. Also, don’t overlook the benefits of the day date. Restaurants are less expensive and some things are only available during the daylight hours, like the safari park and US Space and Rocket Center. Wherever you choose to go remember that the destination isn’t as important as spending time with the one you love.
